Approximately 30-40 minutes from the center of Fukuoka City, Itoshima has now become a fashionable place full of cafes, restaurants, pottery/furniture craft shops and art galleries. There is a fun spot for everyone and anyone including young children. Different seasons offer very different pleasures. For example, in the summer, the ocean is amazingly blue and beautiful and in the winter, you can enjoy oysters in Kaki Goya (Oyster House). But what stays constant is Itoshima’s sunset. There is a scenic drive of about 33 km in the western part of Itoshima Peninsula called Sunset Road. It is selected as one of the “Japan’s Best Coastlines” and “Japan’s Best Sunset Locations.”
