JLPT Test Day & Tanabata Wishes

Yesterday, July 6th, was the day of the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test).

This time, the schedule was a little different from before—N1 and N2 levels were held in the morning, while N3 to N5 were in the afternoon.

For those taking the test for the first time, just getting to the test site can be stressful. So, to help ease their worries, a teacher went along with the students to the venue.

When we arrived at the nearest station, it was packed!
There were so many people everywhere, and the bus stop was overwhelmed with long lines of JLPT test takers. It took quite a while to get on the bus. The students looked a little tense, but while waiting, they were still talking about the test—some were reviewing, and others were trying to calm their nerves by chatting.

After the test, we checked in with a few students to hear how it went.
“It was tough to keep up with the listening section—it was so fast,” one student said. “But I was happy that some of the grammar and kanji we studied in class came up in the questions. I just wish I had more time… I think I need more practice.”

The JLPT is a great opportunity to put your Japanese skills to the test. Even if you don’t get the result you hoped for, the experience itself is valuable. What matters most is continuing to challenge yourself. We hope all of our students will keep moving forward with confidence and perseverance.

And as it happens, today is Tanabata—the Star Festival.

It’s the perfect day to make a wish.

Our wish?
“That every one of our students who took the test passes!”

Let’s hope the stars are listening tonight.
