Hello! Today, I would like to introduce the future paths available to international students after graduating from Japanese language schools.
After studying Japanese at a language school, many students think about their next step in Japan. What options are available? In this blog, I will introduce three of the most popular paths.

1. Entering a Vocational School
After finishing Japanese language school, many international students go on to vocational schools. At vocational schools, students can learn the skills and knowledge needed for specific careers. There are many fields of study to choose from, such as:
• Computer and IT
• Hotel and Tourism
• Design and Animation
• Auto Mechanics
• Business and Accounting
Vocational schools focus on practical training, so students can gain skills that are useful in real jobs. Many schools have career centers that support students in finding employment. These centers offer help with job hunting, writing resumes, and practicing for interviews.
Upon graduation, students receive a qualification called “Senmonshi” (Specialist). This certificate can also be used when applying for a work visa in Japan. For international students who want to work in Japan, vocational school is a great option.

2. Entering a University
Students who want to study more deeply often go on to universities or graduate schools in Japan.
About Universities
Universities in Japan typically have four-year programs. There are many fields of study available, such as economics, business management, international relations, information technology, environmental studies, and Japanese language education.
At university, students not only gain specialized knowledge but also have opportunities to interact with Japanese students. Through club activities and events, they can learn more about Japanese culture and make new friends.
Graduating from a university is also a big advantage when seeking employment in Japan. Many companies require international applicants to have a university degree. While studying at university, it’s important to improve both your Japanese skills and your academic knowledge.
To enter a university, students often need to take Japanese or English exams, write a study plan or research proposal, and pass an interview. It may be a little difficult, but with preparation and effort, you can get closer to your dreams.

3. Finding Employment in Japan
Many students also want to work in Japan after graduating from Japanese language school. However, there are several conditions that need to be met to work in Japan.
First, graduation from a university or a vocational school is generally required. Most companies hiring international employees as full-time workers require a university degree. If you graduate from a vocational school and receive a Senmonshi qualification, employment is also possible.
Second, Japanese language ability is extremely important. Companies look for people who can understand and use Japanese in conversations and documents at work. Most companies require JLPT N2 or higher. If you can communicate at a business level, your job opportunities will increase.
In addition, you need to prepare in the following ways to get a job in a Japanese company:
• How to write a resume and entry sheet
• Interview manners
• Company research
Support for this kind of preparation is available at career centers in vocational schools and universities. Don’t try to do everything alone—be sure to consult with your teachers and career advisors.
