About NILS

NILS is authorized by the Association for the Promotion of Japanese Language Education, for the purpose of improving the quality of Japanese language institutes, providing a comfortable setting for foreign students to study Japanese.

We tailor the language program to suit your needs, making sure that you are truly comfortable with the language before you complete your course.
If learning Japanese is what you desire, look no further than NILS.
Let’s learn Japanese language with us !

Why do students choose NILS?

1.Because NILS is located in Fukuoka!

Ranked the 12th most livable city in the world by Monocle’s quality of life ranking,Fukuoka city, one of the most beautiful and most pleasant places in all of Japan. Surrounded by majestic mountains and beautiful seas with a rich and varied food culture, this area is rarely a victim of natural disasters.
You realize that you are in a safe, convenient, and comfortable city.

Fukuoka is the best city to learn the Japanese language and Japan’s authentic culture.

Because NILS is located in Fukuoka!

Fukuoka is Japan’s No.1 city to live, visit and work as selected

Fukuoka City has also been ranked 10th in the World's Top 25 Most Livable Cities 2014, a survey conducted by British lifestyle magazine, Monocle, which focuses on business, culture and design.
Affordable housing and elements of the city’s infrastructure, such as public transportation, were recognized.

Fukuoka City is a compact city with only a 10-minute travel time between the airport and downtown. The city’s rich food culture includes fresh fish and Hakata ramen noodles. The city has a rich and long history with many traditions.
A wide variety of community events are held throughout the year in Fukuoka City and its vicinity.

The city offers many cultural exchange events including annual events such as the Asian Pacific Festival and the Asian-Pacific Children’s Convention.
There is no doubt that Fukuoka is a most livable city for foreign nationals thanks to its kind and caring residents. Another appealing feature for foreign nationals is that the price of daily necessities in Fukuoka is much lower than those in bigger cities like Tokyo or Osaka, resulting in a lower cost of living.

Because there is no worry about contamination of food and water from the nuclear plant disaster of 2011, people live in safety and with peace of mind.

2.Because most of our students have succeeded
in higher education after completing our program!

During the program, students who aim for higher education such as universities, colleges, and business schools will be given special support by NILS staff who are experts in this field, accompanying students to universities’ seminars, entrance examination pre-tests, and supplemental lectures.
The programs include JLPT test support.

Because most of our students have succeeded in higher education after completing our program!

3.Because students can encounter authentic
Japanese culture with people from the local community!

NILS has a close and strong relationship with the local community and the city itself. The mayor of our city shows his respect at entrance and graduation ceremonies for those students who have traveled from afar. Many events and activities are held by the local community throughout the year so that our students have many opportunities to communicate with the Japanese people. Students can experience and learn the real Japanese culture through the community.

The teachers at NILS are very dedicated. They wholeheartedly hope the best for the student's future and more than willing to provide necessary support. By one and half year into my Japanese study at NILS, I was able to pass JLPT N2 and find an employment in a Japanese company.
Learning Japanese and gradually being able to convey my thoughts to Japanese people around me itself is such a rewarding experience. As the School's Principal said in his welcoming speech during the entrance ceremony, Japanese language is the most important asset (武器) in navigating our lives and future here in Japan. And I think, the more we as foreign students understand the language, the more Japan discloses herself to us.

NILS is a good school to choose if you wish to become fluent in Japanese with confidence. The teachers are deeply committed to their students’ education and well being. My teachers have gone the extra mile to support me when I needed it.
I would highly recommend NILS to anyone who wants to learn Japanese for their future career or for whatever their reasons may be. Please be prepared to study hard for the pace is a bit fast at first, but you will feel accomplished at the rate you will learn.
I wish you the best of luck in your Japanese studies.
